We’re very sorry to say that built-in support for Google Drive and OneDrive is no longer available. We would have loved to continue supporting Google Drive and OneDrive, but it is no longer possible.
You can still open your mind maps as SimpleMind now uses the native Android method of opening and storing files without having access to your cloud. In our opinion, it is a less elegant solution, but it does work.

So what changes?

  • SimpleMind no longer needs or has access to your Google Drive or OneDrive.
  • You need to install the cloud app, such as OneDrive or (Google) Drive to open and save mind maps.
  • Changes are synced by the cloud app, no longer by SimpleMind. How often the sync happens depends on the cloud app and whether it is running.
  • You can still open the mind maps you made by using the new SimpleMind Files Explorer. See how the Files Explorer works.
  • Using multiple devices? Check the files’ date and time before opening to avoid data loss. We highly recommend using the built-in cloud Dropbox so SimpleMind can do this check for you automatically.
  • Existing links to files, images, videos etc will no longer open.
Previously, SimpleMind had full access to your cloud. This is no longer the case, and as a result, SimpleMind is not allowed to open existing links.
  • You can add new links, those will open only on that device.

Q&A

Can I still open my mind maps?
Yes, via the Files Explorer. You will also need the cloud app (Drive or OneDrive).

Can I revert SimpleMind to a previous version?
Reverting isn’t possible.

Can you convert my existing links (such as links to files, videos, images)?
SimpleMind cannot convert existing links. Not only are they in a different format, but the issue also relates to not having the permission to open those links.
To keep the links, switch to Dropbox and copy all your mind maps (and folders they are in) to Dropbox via your Android File Explorer (such as My Files on Samsung). When the folder structure stays the same, the links will still work.

Why do I need to check the date and time?
Let’s say you create a mind map on device A. We will call this version 1. Later you edit this mind map on device B, creating version 2. Now you want to edit it again on device A.
Previously SimpleMind could check if this version (1) was the latest version and download the latest version (2) for you.
When using the Files explorer you need to do this yourself. If you open version 1, edit and save the mind map – the cloud will most likely overwrite version 2 and you will lose any information added.
We recommend using Dropbox when using multiple devices.

Will the built-in functionality be back?
We would love that, but at this point we don’t expect that to happen.

Can I open mind maps directly from the cloud app?
No, you would need to open from within SimpleMind.
